About IBPS Exam
Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a self- governed academic and research oriented Institute developed in 1975 for conducting Common Written Examination (CWE) for the recruitment of officers and clerks in Indian banks. IBPS conducts 4 type of CWE mainly for PO, Clerk, Specialist Officer and RRB to provide manpower in Participating Banks in IBPS Exam (Public Sector Banks and other Financial Institutions).
Here is list of 26 participating banks which come under IBPS Recruiment :- Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Dena Bank, IDBI Bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, Punjab and Sind Bank, State Bank of India, State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Travancore, Syndicate Bank, UCO Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India and Vijaya Bank. There are also 22 more Co- operative banks, 11 private banks and 62 Regional Rural Banks which are also included in the list.
Job Opportunities through IBPS Exam
1. Probationary Officer (PO):- It is the Junior Management Level direct entry point for graduates. Bank PO as a career is the much favorite career option’ for young graduates. IBPS conducts the common written exam every year in major cities of the country and recruits around 1000 plus probationary officers depending on the requirement.
Eligibility:- Willing candidates age should be above 20 years and less than 30 years. The SC/ ST/ OBC candidates can enjoy age relaxation as per the rules. The willing candidate must be a citizen of India. For taking PO Exam, the candidate must be a graduate. Hiring manager considers CA, ICWA, CS, MBA and PGDBM degrees equivalent to graduation.
Selection Procedure:- For the selection the bank conducts separate written exam in two levels i.e Preliminary & main Examination. Both are objective type paper having four sections Reasoning, General Awareness, English Language and Quantitative Aptitude. Preliminary Exam consist of 100 questions with time allotted 1 hour duration while Main having 200 questions with time allotted of 140 minutes having Computer knowledge as extra subject. Each candidate is required to score minimum marks to be selected in Interview depending on the number of vacancies available.
2. IBPS Clerical:- IBPS-CWE Clerical is held annually to recruit the clerical cadre in Public Sector Banks and Other Financial Institutions generally as Clerk, Agricultural Clerks, Typist (English), Typist (English and Hindi), Clerk-cum-Cashier, Telephone Operators, Steno (English), Steno (Hindi), Steno (English and Hindi).
Eligibility:- Willing candidate should be an Indian citizen and must possess a valid residence certificate. General category candidate must fall in the age bracket of 18 to 28 years and reserved category candidates can enjoy the age relaxation as per govt rules.
Selection Procedure:- IBPS Clerk Pattern 2017 consists of 2 online exams i.e Prelims exam and the Mains exam.
Prelims exam has 3 sections i.e English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. IBPS Mains Exam has 5 sections.General Awareness and Computer Knowledge are two extra sections for main examination. Mains exam consists of 200 questions, each section containing 40 questions. There are no interviews for Clerical Cadre.
3. IBPS RRB:- IBPS RRB CWE consist of multiple positions i.e Officer Scale-I, Scale-II & Scale-III.There are also specialist officer positions like Chartered Accountant, I.T. Officer, Law Officer, Marketing Officer, Agriculture Officer. In clerical cadre, Office Assistant positions are also being recruited.
4. IBPS Specialist Officer:- IBPS Specialist Officer CWE consist of multiple positions i.e IT Officers (Scale I), Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale I), Agricultural Field Officers (Scale I), HR / Personnel Officers (Scale I), Law Officers (Scale I) and Marketing Officers (Scale I).
Eligibility:- Willing candidate should be an Indian citizen and must fall in the age bracket of 18 to 30 years. Candidate must have completed 4 year Engineering Degree in relevant discipline/ 4 year graduation degree/ Degree in law/ Post Graduate in Hindi/ Full time MBA or other higher qualification in relevant discipline.
Selection Procedure:- IBPS SO Pattern 2017 consists of 2 online exams i.e Prelims exam and the Mains exam.
Prelims exam has 3 sections i.e English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. Main Examination consist of 100 questions on professional knowledge with duration 1 hour. Each candidate is required to score minimum marks to be selected in Interview depending on the number of vacancies available.
